I’ve followed and long admired @lorepemberton ‘s work here on Instagram and this print (and a couple more) were a gift I promised to myself this holiday season. I wish this picture could truly capture the essence of this print (the colors! The whimsy!) but seeing her work in real life just goes beyond what these little digital Instagram squares can do 😍. 🌻 Hope you are all enjoying this season and can find little ways to treat yourself and others around you in the coming days!

This time of year can be so busy, especially for us makers (talk about self-imposed deadlines, right?!). ✨ I just finished up the last of my holiday knitting and I’m realizing I still have a few more gifts to purchase (if anyone has any advice on great gifts for teen nieces and nephews, send them my way!). But things are slowing down, and I hope they are for you, too. I hope you’re finding some quietness and stillness in the holiday hullabaloo, but if you are still caught up in it- it will come soon (I hope!). ✨ So where are you at? Are your to-do lists tapering, or ever growing? It’s the sixth time I’ve knit the sweater in just over a year and it was no less enjoyable this time around! 🔹 There’s something about those repetitive colorwork patterns that keeps my attention so perfectly. It’s time to put the finishing touches on this one today. 🔹 This little version is just like my original. I was able to buy the last two skeins of @whyknotfibers “Steady” in “Blue Jean Baby” last time I taught at @spunannarbor . More on the sweater vests, because I knit them in 2015, so in Instagram years, that’s like a lifetime! 🔹 Joe’s sweater vest was knit first, and it was a surprise. It was back in the days when I was working full time so I would hide it in my car and work on it during conference calls and downtime. There were a few times I remember smuggling it into the house and stashing it under the couch when I heard him coming 🥴. It was the first project I ever steeked, which was a little intimidating considering the sheer size/time of the project, but the fingering weight yarn made it a breeze for cutting ✂️. 🔹 The smaller vest I knit for Sam that Christmas so the boys could match. I used the same stitch patterns and similar colors, but in different orders. The yarn is all @knit_picks palette yarn. It’s a yarn that I like to keep in a variety of colors on the shelf for when I need to swatch up a colorwork design.

Yesterday at church, Ben was beyond eager to show everyone that he and Daddy were wearing matching fair isle sweater vests. I always appreciate a toddler who appreciates a handknit! 🔹

A Year in Review

Well, today's the day! I have officially been a blogger for one year now- I can hardly believe it! In honor of the first blogiversary, I figured it's as good a time as ever to take a little stroll down memory lane and look at what an exciting year it's been.

October 7 2009- I started blogging

October 8, 2009- I set out to be an official ravelry designer by posting my first pattern

October 12, 2009- The French Press Felted Slipper Pattern was released on Ravelry

October 15, 2009- I fell in love with Fair Isle

**side note: it's not as scary as it looks, every knitter needs to give it a go!

November 19, 2009- Found my LYS (even if it's over a half hour away- it's worth it!)

November 25, 2009- Got the joy of seeing my French Press Felted Slipper pattern on the very top of the Ravelry "New and Popular" list- what an honor!

November 29, 2009- Celebrated the sixth annual International Craft Day in the Bernardi home

(we'll give you a little more warning this year!)

December 3, 2009- Launched the Breckenrdige Cowl

Thursday, December 17- I was Harlotized. This may sound like a bad thing, but for a knitter, there is nothing better! (Harlotization actually occured on the 10th- crazy things happen after haroltization, and I was not able to write about it until the 17th)

December 23, 2009- Joe and I held differing opinions on the proper size of a Christmas tree

January 9, 2010- I made my debut on YouTube

January 20, 2010- A knitter is born

January 26, 2010- We started wholesaling!

February 4, 2010- We started work on my knitting studio

March 12, 2010- Montebello Launched

March 13, 2010- I met the Harlot (and Jill!)

April 19, 2010- Launched 3-in-1 Baby Booties Pattern

April 21, 2010- Made progress on the knitting studio

June 23, 2010- Made a little announcement

July 16- Continued to work on my greatest WIP to date

September 10, 2010- Joe and I celebrated our fifth wedding anniversary

September 20, 2010- Launched an exclusive new pattern for the Lansing Shop Hop

October 5, 2010- Launched Aravis Hooded Cowl Pattern

And that sums it up, folks! Whether you've been around since the beginning, or are a new reader, I hope you enjoyed this little trek down memory lane. It's been quite an exciting year for us and I can't wait to see what this next year holds!
