Confessions of a Fair Weather Knitter

At this point I'm not even sure where time has gone or how it got away from me for so long. I could give you a beautifully written post to show you how sorry I am for being away for so long, but instead I will post for posting's sake, just to get back into the habit of it.

Something funny happened back a few months ago. When the longer days and warmer weather crept in, my knitting addiction seemed to fade a bit. My needles and yarn were replaced with boat rides and biking, and blogging somehow took a back seat.

It's probably no coincidence that when I left you Elise was just starting to crawl. Mobility changes life! Since then, she has moved on to walking and can now get almost anywhere she wants to go.

Now that it's been a few months I'm not sure where to start. I feel like much has changed- the online world is morphing and I haven't been keeping up. For some reason when I go to post on Blogger it's way harder than it was before (anyone now how I can get the old posting back?), I guess I should have been around for the change. Social media sites are changing- I have finally started using my Pinterest account and becoming a little addicted. I have jumped the Google Plus bandwagon (or Google-Face, as Joe ikes to call it) but am still in the process of figuring out its capabilities.

So, I will attempt to fill you in on what I have been up to these past few months in the coming days- as long as you don't mind me straying a bit from knitting content. Don't worry- there is still fiber, just other forms of it.

PS... thank you all for the emails, Ravelry hellos, and Twitter mentions- rest assured we are doing well here in French Press Knits land- just enjoying my summer with these two loves:

TNNA Through the Eyes of Twitter

For those of you who follow my twitter feed, you know where I ran off to this past weekend. For those of you who don't, here's a quick recap of my weekend at TNNA.

At #TNNA, tucked away in our room hiding from the storm. Made it to @jenisicecreams just before the rain came :)

And now that I'm home I'm busy re-packing for a work trip. I leave in a few hours- I have been dreading this for a long time, my first time away from sweet Elise. So I leave you with my most recent Twitter update:

Packing for my work trip- all set! #wishfulthinking

Any mommies out there have tips for me? It will be the first time I am away from Elise for any amount longer than a typical workday. Still nursing and haven't quite figured out the flying with milk rules... flight leaves at 3:30 (help!).

What Elise is Really Thinking

**"Apparently Mommy thinks she has knit enough for me"**

About the knitting dry spell, that is. It appears that Elise got quite used to her posh handknit lifestyle. Keep the dream alive, baby- your day may return!

Speaking of Elise, she's on the move- this is what it's like trying to get a picture of her these days. The real fun comes at diaper changing time!

Picking Up Where I Left Off

As some of you have noticed, my presence around the blogosphere has been a little scarce.  I could give you a million and a half excuses, but what my absence boils down to is this: pure laziness.  Summer has come in at full force here in Michigan and we have been enjoying time outside.  Knitting time has decreased, and internet time in general has almost completely diminished.  I have to admit, it is quite a freeing feeling to click the "mark all as read" button on Google Reader (especially when the true unread number reads over 1,000).

All last week I planned on writing a post.  Everyday my mind's commentary was actually a blog post, putting together words so plesant that my readers would surely forgive my truency- but instead I will give you this- an FO.

Yes, Elise's Cascade has finally received buttons.  The decision was tough- and you guys made it even more difficult!  Although I was surprised at how much I loved the crazy yellow buttons, I decided on the more classic brown.  The sweater is big on Elise now and is meant for fall.  If it was a spring cardi, I would have been a little more apt to choose the bright yellow. I may just have to come up with a little headband for the yellow buttons- the combo is (surprisingly) too perfect.

As far as any other knitting goes, it really has been as scarce as my blogging frequency. This is the first time I've hit the knitting wall in some time.  I need advice... how do I get through this knitting funk?!
